The hoodies behind Zerocopter

Daria Soliieva

Welcome back to one of our favourite blog series, where a different member of the team is introduced on the second Monday of each month. In these posts, you can find out more about the hoodies behind Zerocopter!

This month we had a talk with Daria Soliieva, Marketing Specialist. Daria started as an intern at Zerocopter and now she is handling so many aspects in the sales and marketing department!

Please tell us a bit about yourself, who is Daria Soliieva?

Hi! I am Daria and I am a Marketing Specialist here at Zerocopter. I was born and raised in Ukraine but in 2015 I made a decision to move to The Netherlands and since then I have had two places that I call home. If you ask me about my interests, by no surprise I will say traveling, exploring new cultures and of course, cuisines, because who doesn’t like that? But I also very much enjoy a very haste-less and moderate rhythm of life with no rush and race. Apart from that, I dedicated 12 years of my life to dancing (Ballroom and Latin), so dancing will always hold a special place in my heart.

How would you describe your job title in a couple of words?

My job is all about reaching out to our audience and hackers through social media channels and our website, and making sure that they know about our brand and its mission, because if they do, they will definitely like us!

What do you like about working as a marketing specialist at Zerocopter?

I very much like the diverse nature of this job, as it has so many aspects – from creating content, analysing the results, coming up with creative campaigns and ideas to advertise the services, to organising all kinds of different events. Also, we get a chance to get to know our audience and their preferences better. This way we can provide the information that would be interesting and useful specifically for them.

How did you end up at Zerocopter?

I was doing my internship at Zerocopter during my Master’s program, and after, I got a chance to stay and continue working in the company. Couldn’t be happier about that!

If you could trade positions with anyone in Zerocopter for a day, what would it be and why?

I would love to trade positions with Lars, our Senior UX designer. I always found it fascinating how one can create an aesthetically attractive product that is intuitive and convenient in usage.

What have you learned from working at Zerocopter?

I have completely changed my view on online security and started taking it more seriously: setting strong and different passwords, always keeping software and browsers up to date and becoming more cautious when it comes to sharing information online.

When was the first time that you heard about the term “Bug Bounty” or “Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure”?

The first time I came across these terms was on the Zerocopter website when I was applying for the internship.

What resources would you recommend to someone (new) in this industry?

For someone new to marketing and someone interested in content marketing especially, I would suggest the book “Epic Content Marketing” by Joe Pulizzi. He delivers information in a very structured way and tells you how to create good and engaging content by giving examples and case studies from leading companies. Always interesting to learn from the best!

What is your favourite stereotype about the hacking industry and why?

I immediately imagine all these scenes in the movies when they show a guy sitting in a dark room with the hood on, without revealing his face. In fact, it is such a stereotype!

Now you know more about Daria! In the following months you will get to find out more about other hoodies behind Zerocopter. So stay tunned for the next blog post in October!
